Stephen Gorham Named CIO of the Year Honoree by Tampa Bay Business Journal

Stephen Gorham, OPSWAT’s CIO and Head of Global Operations, was named CIO of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. 11 honorees were celebrated during a luncheon last week to recognize IT executives and emerging leaders in Tampa Bay.
Determined by a panel of judges, the CIO of the Year honorees were chosen and recognized for their innovative ways to create a competitive advantage within their markets, optimize business processes, enable company growth and impact their companies’ bottom lines. Honorees were judged based on innovation in strategy and implementation of IT systems; leadership style and management effectiveness; business value created from their IT operations; community involvement and philanthropy; and their contributions to the Tampa Bay business community.
Since joining OPSWAT in 2021, Gorham implemented an organizational support structure and workforce plan designed to provide efficient and exceptional support services for IT, Cybersecurity, Service Desk, Enterprise Applications, and Global Operations. This grew OPSWAT’s cybersecurity staff by 350% and business application staff by 200%. Another major initiative was revamping the OPSWAT Help Desk into a true Global Service Desk with 24/7/365 support, as well as consolidating tools and displacing the legacy collaboration technology stack to completely redesign and launch a new CRM platform.

During his tenure, Gorham has also focused on expanding OPSWAT’s compliance footprint. In February, OPSWAT obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification. With ISO being one of the most rigorous and respected global regulatory bodies, achieving this certification was a huge team effort and validates that OPSWAT has the necessary systems and processes to ensure the highest quality products and support offerings.
In addition to Gorham’s contributions to the private sector during one of the most transformative times in the industry, he has been affiliated with the U.S. military for more than 24 years, serving in the Army National Guard, U.S. Navy, and Army Reserve and has obtained over a dozen military accolades.
Gorham’s contributions to OPSWAT, the local community and his country are deeply appreciated and much deserving of this competitive recognition by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
